Name: Ron Kollen Sent: 11/21 2003 07:43 AM Richard was the entertainment highlight of my 50th birthday weekend and he was fantastic. The perfect party event! Richard keyed in on everything and pushed all the right buttons with my guests. His intuitive comic timing and joyous stage personality makes a great time for everyone. My guests are still talking about how much fun they had. I highly recommend him to entertain at any size party or event. He's also so easy to work with, flexable and just a real nice guy. Name: Michael Segovia City: Rockland County, NY Sent: 11/13 2003 07:21 AM I have seen "An Evening with Carol Channing Starring Richard Skipper" twice now, the second you starred with Liza. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the show is and how wonderful you are. You bring a genuine smile to my face as I'm watching the show. Your love of Ms. Channing if evident through your beautiful, funny and most of all, respectful tribute to her. You should be proud of yourself. I am looking forward to collaborating with you for a show in conjunction with my program next June. Thanks so much, Richard. Name: Ludmilla City: NYC Sent: 11/13 2003 02:27 AM For me, last week was Carol Channing week. It started off with wonderful & generous Richard Skipper as Carol Channing in a benefit for The Parkinsons Organization with the mezmerising Jana Robbins at the Duplex. Last Thurs. was a very rainy day. Before seeing Carol Channing at Singular Sensations Series, I was to meet Richard at Suzie’s across from the Village Theater. Well, I got off the A train at 6th Ave. & wandered for 40 years, til I got to the Stonewall. Was I lost or what! I finally met Richard for a quick bite & we went to see Miss Channing. It was quite a lovely evening. It started off w/us having a long chat with Harry, Miss Channing's hubby. What a sweet & down to earth fellow. He began by apologizing to Richard that they missed the benefit on Tues. night, having opened Richard’s letter and invitation the morning after. He told us that when he opened Richard’s press kit he remarked to Carol (while glancing at a picture of Richard dressed as Carol) "It's a good thing I didn't meet him 1st, because that looks pretty good to me!" We all howled! I found Carol to be intelligent, speaking fluent French & knowledgeable about many things in addition to theatre. seeseverything, she’s all you describe her to be. Carol’s story about auditioning for her agent at Wm. Morris was a terrific hoot. Something about starting out singing a Tahitian threshing chant, a medieval French church pagentry piece. As he was telling her don't call me, I'll call you, she paused & said "There's just 1 more thing I'd like to sing for you. I just learned it." It was a yiddish song that his grandmother used to sing for him. That won him over & he was her agent from then on. She also mentioned that Hello Dolly was originally written for Nanette Fabrey, something I’d forgotten. After the interview, we spoke w/Carol dnstrs. She was very complimentary of Richard’s portrayal of her, saying “everyone in San Francisco loves” Richard. I also learned that Richard had shared the stage in San Francisco with her, as Carol. What a sight that must have been! Milla Name: Amy Lebowitz City: New York Sent: 11/12 2003 10:31 AM Richard! He is the ultimate professional. Name: Richard Barclay City: NYC Sent: 10/09 2003 03:41 AM Eileen Fulton and I went to see Richard Skipper as Carol Channing in "An Evening With Carol Channing" at The Duplex on Tuesday, 10/07/03. We have seen Richard many times, but it was like it was the very first time. He is one of those very rare performers who keeps his act fresh and new-looking, always adding new material and new surprises, since his act includes going into the audience with very funny and quick-witted byplay with them. Richard Skipper is not a female impersonator. He is a brilliant actor who brings the illusion and respect of one of the greats in show business. He gets my vote hands down! Name: Corine Cohen Sent: 10/02 2003 02:42 AM I have seen Richard's show three times. He is wonderful. Name: Tesa Lashee Smith City: Baton Rouge Sent: 09/30 2003 04:39 PM Richard is fantastic in his jawdropping homage to Carol Channing! I think it is a great shame that he hasn't expanded this show over to Austrailia or London even! He'd be a hit!!! Kudos Richard to you and your characterization of Carol Channing! Richard is also a kind, caring friend for whose presence I'm deeply grateful. Peace & love, Houston Allred Name: Jim Baker City: Houston, TX Sent: 09/15 2003 12:24 PM Saw Richard performance and he was outstanding.
