Congratulations on all your success. :) Lots of love! Name: Richard Adler City: New York Sent: 05/09 2005 02:14 PM Richard I thoroughly enjoyed your show yesterday at Queensborough Community College. You are truly great in every way and very entertaining.Keep up the great work! Name: Robert LeVulis City: New York City Sent: 05/06 2005 10:17 AM I have had the privelege of watching Mr. Skipper's performances over a number of years. He is not only a consumate performer, but recreates Carol Channing with incredible elegance, dignity, and panache. There is no comprimise when Mr. Skipper co-mingles his persona with that of Miss Channing's. In his audience interactions, Mr. Skipper handles each person with the uncomprimising gentle charm most characteristic of Carol Channing. On occasion, an audience member may attempt to "bate" Mr. Skipper into a caricature representation of Miss Channing. Unshaken, Mr. Skipper will never depart from the elegance and poise that epitomizes Carol Channing. In this is found Mr. Skipper's true genius and professionalism. Name: Chuck Prentiss City: Fort Lauderdale, FL Sent: 04/30 2005 03:05 PM I saw Carol Channing in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" in 1949. When I see Richard Skipper perform "A Little Girl From Little Rock" these days, it's the closest thing to seeing Carol on stage in 1949. He does things that Carol herself can no longer do. Richard more than impersonates Carol Channing -- he restores her to her youth, strength and greatest glory. It's a magic feat of wizardry worthy of Houdini. As long as there's a Richard Skipper, there'll be a Carol Channing -- in her prime. Your respect for the event, the talent, and also the clock was evident from the beginning. You kept things moving with humor and good taste. You know I have admired your work and been a fan of yours for a long time, and after last Monday's MAC Awards Show , I can only say my admiration has grown. You are a consumate professional. It was my honor and pleasure to have you co-host the 2005 MAC Awards Show." Barry Levitt, Executive Producer 2005 MAC Awards Show Name: Laura Slutsky City: NYC Sent: 04/26 2005 06:06 PM April 26, 2005 I had the most wonderful time last evening at the MAC AWARDS held at Symphony Space in NYC. The second part of the show opened and there she was in all her glory as the hostess with the mostess, MISS CAROL CHANNING (aka Richard Skipper). She was gorgeous in an amazing gown. Her warmth, humor, glibness, made it a show to remember. When Carol is on the stage I smile from ear to ear. She knows how to work an audience and glide across the stage like Peggy Fleming on ice. I adore Carol and Richard Skipper. A true night to remember. Love your devoted fan, Laura Slutsky Name: Sandi Durell Homepage: http://www.TimelessDivas.com City: New York Sent: 04/26 2005 11:59 AM Congratulations Richard on being the most fabulous and enjoyable host (and hostess) at the 2005 MAC Awards ! It was wonderful to see you as yourself and then as 'Carol'. You added warmth, fun and an element of just what the evening needed ! Hope to see you back next year. Name: Sue Matsuki Homepage: http://www.SueMatsuki.com City: Brooklyn, NY Sent: 04/19 2005 04:09 PM This is not a joke! However, I have to admit that as I walked down 42nd Street and saw Ms. Channing's name on the marquee of BB King's I remember thinking..."This is SO wrong!" BUT a more wonderful night could not have been had. I, of course, went with Richard Skipper -the "other" Carol Channing. We sat dead center at the first table under the microphone where Ms. Channing performed all evening so the first words out of her mouth as she came on stage were, "Richard". Later when we all gave her one of her many standing O's, there it was again..."Richard". At the end of the evening, when her new husband came on stage with her, she pointed and said to Harry, "Look, Richard Skipper." What a night for him for sure but for me too. I truly have a new appreciation of Richard's talent and I've seen him more than anyone beside Danny. I also got to meet this delicious lady backstage (we were her guests) and even got a photo with her and Richard for the ol' websites (by our friend Glen Charlow). We are all still on a cloud. Her performance was amazing and I truly felt like I was in the presence of a legend...as I was. The place was packed too, another nice tribute to her. What a night! Name: Barbara Levy Homepage: http://www.westportwomansclub.org/ City: Westport, CT Sent: 04/17 2005 12:21 PM Hello Richard, Last evening's performance at the Westport Woman's Club fundraiser was wonderful! You really did WOW the audience. I've received comments how great the show was and what a professional you are. I couldn't have thought of a more exciting person to offer the Woman's Club than the great Carol Channing and you did her justice. You left the audience wanting more. Bravo and thanks for coming to Westport CT. Name: Sharon Maier-Kennelly Homepage: http://www.landmarkonmainstreet.org City: Port Washington, NY Sent: 04/15 2005 01:01 PM When Barry Levitt originally proposed Richard Skipper as host for his Songs of Jule Styne show, I never could have imagined what a wonderful treat we had in store. Richard, you were simply terrific. Thanks for everything and we hope to see you back again! Best, Sharon Name: Suzanne Ishee Homepage: http://www.broadwaycenterstage.com City: South Orange, NJ Sent: 04/13 2005 09:41 AM Hey, Richard, I'm sorry I was so scattered and rushed on Saturday and Sunday that I didn't really get a chance to speak with you properly after our show. I was just so impressed at how much you have grown in your performance of Carol and how at ease you are in improv in her manner. It's just remarkable and I know you must be so proud of your work. Knowing her as well as I do having worked with her in JERRY'S GIRLS, I think that it is quite a feat that you can bring yourself to so closely resemble who she is and how she plays before an audience. And, on top of that, you are very, very funny! Thanks for the pleasure. I'll look forward to next time! Fondly, Suzanne Ishee, Producer Broadway Center Stage Name: Kenny City: Forest Hills Sent: 04/11 2005 12:31 AM saw you Saturday night at The Landmark on Main St. in Port Washington. Usually like those Barry Levitt productions however you were the only redeeming feature to this show. You made the whole evening worthwhile. keep up the good work. Name: Dale Badway City: New York, NY Sent: 02/17 2005 03:28 PM Richard, What can I say, you brought the house down again at The Partners 'N Progress Gala Benefit @ The Largo Cultural Center, Largo, Florida. It was an honor and privledge to perform with you again and look forward to seeing your magic come alive on stage soon! P.S. Congratulations on the Standing Ovation!! Dale Badway Name: Diana Siegel City: Chestnut Ridge, New York Sent: 02/15 2005 06:50 AM It's hard to call you Richard. You were so convincing as Carol. What a performance! I was with a group of friends at the Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Center in Stony Point last Sunday. You had the audience of rehab patients, friends, family, staff and those of us who came because we knew you would be there, in the palm of your hands. The singing and sheer glamour of the great Carol captivated us. Why did it have to end? If lifting of the spirits is healing then the patients in the audience were speeded on their way to recovery after your and your terrific accompanist's performance. The next time I catch your act, I want to be one of the lucky ones who catches one of those jewels you toss around. Thanks. Diana Name: Doug Reed City: Cape Coral, FL. Sent: 02/14 2005 03:23 PM I had the pleasure of seeing Richard perform in Ft. Myers on Jan. 29th. It was a wonderful performance. Hard to believe that it was not Carol Channing herself. Richard had the entire audience involved in the show, and I would definetely see Him again anytime Name: M. David Williams City: Berwyn Heights, MD Sent: 02/12 2005 12:04 PM Carol, your performance was the perfect ending to a perfect day for me. I can now say that I actually performed with Carol Channing at the National Theatre! Your voice, looks and costume were undeniably flawless. But, it's that intangible part of the performance that most impresses me . . . and that's your ability to woe and inspire your audience to be part of the show. I got very clear that you really, really, really love us and what you do. Thank you so much, your artistry is awesome . . . I kept the rose you gave me all week long, not only as a reminder of the fun I had, but, of how a true star can move mountains. Name: GARY FONTAINE City: Washington Sent: 02/10 2005 04:30 PM Hi Richard! Was so good to see your performance at the National and visit with you briefly. Saw Carol at the Kennedy Center last night; and tho I didn't get the chance to speak to her and pass on your regards, she was a hoot on stage discussing the 40's in NY. Bye for now. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Gary Number of entries: 478
