Mark Name: Joey Teets City: Uniontown, PA Sent: 07/20 2004 01:42 PM Richard is a nice guy who gives a great performance. A true professional. You really helped make this year's encampment at IMEN a truly great one everyone will remember. Name: Phil Copeland (Curly) City: Hamilton, Bermuda. Sent: 07/20 2004 11:02 AM Richard: I really did enjoy your Carol Channing performance a couple of weeks ago at IMEN. I'm the bald, white-bearded guy with the tattoos who was in the audience. It was a truly great impersonation of that lady.... You have her down to a tee. ('They call me Carol; you know') LOL. Keep up the good work..How about an encore at another IMEN gathering? Name: Bob Burt City: Baltimore, Md. Sent: 07/20 2004 09:01 AM Richard-It was a pleasure meeting you at Imen this year. As I told you the day after your show, Gary and I have not been so thoroughly entertained in the recent past as we were by you and your "Night with Carol Channing" I admire your talent and professionalism. We were lucky to have you with us at Imen. Looking forward to seeing you and the show again soon. Fondly, Bob Name: Bud Gebb City: Ball Ground, GA Sent: 07/16 2004 06:18 AM I was so enchanted by Richard's performance. He has honed his craft to a fine razors edge which shows as a true artist in his performance of Carol Channing. I was privileged to view his show at a private function for IMen Inc at Camp Ramble Wood in Darlington, Maryland. I was made to feel even more important when Carol (Richard) choose to read my question aloud to the audience of more than 200 members. Thank you Richard for most enchanting evening with Carol Channing, one I will not soon forget. Best wishes! Name: Hector Coris Homepage: http://www.hectorcoris.com City: Queens, NY Sent: 07/15 2004 04:40 PM Saw Richard at the 5th Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival and I couldn't have asked for a better time! My mind kept swimming back and forth from thinking I was actually watching Carol Channing to someone doing an amazing tribute to her. I was glad to have been a tiny part of the show (being called up for audience participation). Absolutely delightful! Catch this show NOW! Name: chuck Sent: 07/15 2004 07:09 AM Hi! Enjoyed his show at GNI and IMEN, both events on the East Coast. It was magical; if you didn't know better you'd swear it was a younger Carol Channing on stage joking, interacting with audience members, and singing some of her most famous songs. The show was done professionally by a mild mannered, friendly gentleman easy to work with and like and showed no attitude at all to the management or guests. All told, he gives a wonderful evening for any Broadway or Carol Channing lover. Name: Louis City: Wesiport, CT Sent: 07/15 2004 05:57 AM Joyfilled, great performance, songs from the heart and a knockout tribute to a great lady Carol Channing! I've seen you in NYC and your Levitt Pavilion show was equally as engaging, humorous, and you treat the audience..."as brothers and sisters" Maybe better! I don't think you can see Richard and not feel better! Name: Jaymie Meyer Homepage: http://www.jaymie.com City: NYC Sent: 07/15 2004 05:16 AM Richard: I had the pleasure of seeing you perform last night at the Workshop Theatre Mainstage - for the Midtown Int'l Theatre Festival. You NEVER FAIL TO AMAZE ME with your extraorinary talent, generosity, and rapport with the audience. I had so much fun and have so much respect for your many, many gifts. Carol Channing is a lucky gal indeed, so be in such loving hands. I encourage folks to attend on July 25 at 11AM and July 29 at 8:30PM. You won't be disappointed. xoxo Jaymie Meyer Name: Rich and Rob City: Germantown, MD Sent: 07/13 2004 05:37 AM Richard (Carol), It was GREAT seeing you "perform" at IMEN this month! You honor this American musical legend with respect and elegance. Fondly, Fred Name: Joel E. Gorgodian City: Ocean Pines Sent: 07/12 2004 12:25 PM IMEN was fortunate to have you at our 10th Anniversary. You treated CArol Channing with joy and respect. Name: EDIE STOKES City: GUTTENBERG, NJ 07093 Sent: 07/07 2004 04:15 PM DEAR RICHARD I SO ENJOYED YOU AT THE GALAXY PROHIBITION PARTY YOU SANG SO WELL AND MADE EVERYONE LAUGH YOU HAVE A GREAT JOI DE VIVRE--REGARDS--EDIE STOKES Name: Stu Hamstra Homepage: http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com City: NYC Sent: 07/03 2004 05:15 AM I was at a marvelous cabaret benefit show last night at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/ ). Richard Skipper hosted the affair - appearing as himself - and the show featured Vickie Phillips, Jana Robbins, Lennie Watts (with Steven Ray Watson), Dana Lorge, Sue Matsuki, Gerta Grunen, with Richard Danley on piano. The show was a tribute to Mary Helen Fisher who passed away a few weeks ago, after fighting liver cancer for the last year and a half. All proceeds went to benefit for THE EPISCOPAL ACTOR'S GUILD, who had been tireless in their support and help to Mary Helen. And, while many left the event teary eyed - a music/photo-montage was the last presentation, and brilliantly produced by Danny Sherman - it was also a time of joy. All the performers gave their all - and for free. I am not a performer (please don't ask me to sing) but I still am thrilled to be a part of this loving and giving cabaret community. If you could not attend, and would like to make a donation in Mary Helen's honor, please contact Mart Hulswitt at THE EPISCOPAL ACTOR'S GUILD at 212-685-2927. By the way, performing in a benefit is a fantastic way to "keep your name alive between gigs," or to promote an upcoming show or your CD. Folks producing benefits send invitations and press releases everywhere - each one including your name - at no cost to you. And they attract an audience that may never have seen you perform, so you have a chance to build your following. Not to mention that you have a way to support a worthwhile case - even if you can't afford to contribute cash. There is very little downside to taking part. By the way, no one does a benefit better than Richard Skipper. Stu Hamstra, CABARET HOTLINE Name: Georgia & Georgie(aka,John) City: Dover, NH Sent: 07/02 2004 03:11 AM HELLO DOLLY, WELL HELLO DOLLY!!! THIS IS A NOTE FROM GEORGIA AND JOHN (AKA,GEORGIE). WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME LAST SATURDAY NIGHT WITH YOU AND SEEING CAROL CHANNING, TOO! WE PLAN TO GO TO AS MANY AS WE CAN, I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH YOUR SHOW! AND GEORGIE DID,TOO!! I TOOK SOME AWESOME PHOTOS OF CAROL AND I THINK KATHY IS GOING TO E-MAIL THEM TO YOU! I MADE YOU A SET, TOO, AND WILL BE SENDING THEM SOON!! TILL WE SEE YOU AGAIN SOON I HOPE! LOVE YA, GEORGIA AND JOHN Name: Michael Segovia Homepage: http://www.gaypriderockland.org Sent: 06/29 2004 11:16 AM I cannot begin to find the words to thank you, Richard, for what you did for me, Phyllis and Gay Pride Rockland as a whole. Your involvement from the word "Go" in the cabaret was so much more than we could have ever imagined. The way you took hold of the show's production, constantly telling us to "relax, I've got it all under control" was an understatement. Your production of our benefit, "An Evening with Carol Channing and Friends" was as professional a production as we have ever seen or will ever see in the future. How you got so many of your friends, (Barbra, Liza, Cher, Bette, Rita and Ethel) to join you in Nyack, NY, is beyond us. We can't thank them or you enough! As for you, Richard, we are still having people call and email us, three weeks later, to tell us what a wonderful time they had at the cabaret and how impressed they were with the level of production of this years benefit. The comment most often heard was how "professionally executed" this year's production was. And, Richard, we have you to thank for that! One woman told me that watching Quinn/Rita rolling around on the piano was like watching an old rerun of one of Rita Hayworth's movies. It brought back many memories to a lot of people. Another woman asked me how I was able to get Carol Channing to come to Rockland to host our little show. When I told her that you were a tribute artist and not Ms. Channing, she didn't believe me! Your performance and your handling of the entire evening's production was second to none and we could not have asked for anything better. You made us, the producers of Gay Pride Rockland, look great, Richard! And on a personal note Richard, to a personal friend, I cannot begin to thank you enough for bringing to Gay Pride Rockland that level of professionalism that only you can bring. I thank you. Thank you. Thank you! Name: Kathy Sent: 06/29 2004 06:27 AM Your show Saturday night was marvelous! You captured the audience from the start. I could see it over and over again, which is what I intend to do. When I next see your show in NY or the surrounding area, I will be bringing more of my NY, NJ and Ct. friends. Name: Roger City: New York City Sent: 06/20 2004 02:17 PM Richard: I saw you last night at the Slide. We had a great time. It's terrifc how you make it a personal show for the audience, remembering audience names and using it in your act. Number of entries: 478
